Amfora quickly became one of the better-known Gemini clients because it combined terminal-native packaging with a polished UI at a time when Gemini was intentionally small and client choice mattered. The project entered maintenance mode after the author's 2023 blog post about stepping back from Gemini, but official releases continued later, with v1.10.0 in 2024 and v1.11.0 in 2025.
