libofx is an OFX banking-protocol library and utility package. It exists so personal-finance applications can parse bank, credit-card, and investment statements in OFX format without each application implementing the specification and its file-format quirks alone.

Historique du projet

The README says libofx began as Benoit Gregoire's end-of-degree project with the objective of adding OFX support to GnuCash. It was then made into a generic library so open-source financial software could share the same OFX parser.

The project was implemented from the OFX 1.6 specification and later grew support for OFX 2.0. Early NEWS entries show the library moving from an initial public release through a C-compatible interface, ofx2qif, OFC support, investment transaction handling, and callback-based parsing.

Later maintenance focused on the parts that matter to package users: malformed-file robustness, character encoding, DTD discovery, Direct Connect support through ofxconnect, CMake support, Windows build fixes, and memory-safety fixes.
